McRae (1931–2020) was known for his finely turned studio work using locally sourced woods, producing pieces in limited quantities that reflect the natural beauty and organic forms of the Pacific Northwest. Since his passing, authentic examples of his work have become increasingly difficult to find — particularly matched pairs with original maker labels.
These candlesticks are hand-turned from solid yew wood, prized for its rich tone, density, and striking natural grain. Both retain their original labels, with the wood type “YEW” noted by hand — a detail highly valued by collectors.
Each piece shows subtle variation consistent with true studio craftsmanship, not mass production.
