About This Book:
This is a highly sought-after and scarce 3rd edition biography of Lieutenant Robert Hampton "Hammy" Gray, one of Canada's last major war heroes and the final Canadian recipient of the Victoria Cross in World War II.
Written by authoritative naval historian Stuart E. Soward, this book provides an incredible, detailed look into Lt. Gray's journey from a student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) to a heroic fighter pilot flying a Chance Vought F4U Corsair with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. He was posthumously awarded the VC for his legendary attack on a Japanese destroyer in Onagawa Bay on August 9, 1945.
This specific 2003 edition was printed in smaller, specialized batches by Neptune Development, making it significantly harder to find for military history buffs, aviation collectors, and Canadian heritage enthusiasts. A fantastic addition to any WWII or naval history library. -
