DetailsBring a touch of charming global artistry into your home with this vintage Mexican folk art pottery bird figurine. Beautifully hand-formed from traditional terracotta clay, this piece features a matte unglazed white finish and is carefully hand-painted to depict a striking Red-headed Woodpecker with its signature solid red crown and bold gray-and-white barred wings.
Turn it over to find the authentic hand-painted signature "LOBLO" on the base.
The Secret Internal Rattle:
This piece has a delightful secret feature—when you shake it, a small piece inside gently rattles!
This is a traditional handmade pottery technique. The bird was hand-molded with a completely hollow center. Before it went into the hot kiln to be fired, a tiny dried clay pellet or pebble was placed inside. Because clay shrinks as it bakes and dries, the tiny "breathing/vent hole" on the bottom shrank too—permanently trapping the piece inside to turn the figurine into a subtle, functional rattle!
Perfect for adding character to a boho bookshelf, curated display cabinet, or as a unique gift for a bird lover.
